AN OUTLINE IS PRESENTED OF PRACTICE IN THE USE OF STRUCTURAL LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE CONCRETE. A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE TYPES OF LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE IS GIVEN. PROPERTIES OF THE AGGREGATES WHICH MUST BE CONSIDERED IN SELECTING AN AGGREGATE, MIX PROPORTIONING, AND METHODS OF ACHIEVING GOOD WORKABILITY AND FINISHABILITY OF THE CONCRETE ARE CONSIDERED.
