AUTOMATED APPARATUS FOR MEASURING SAND MOISTURE CONTENT /IN RUSSIAN/
THE APPARATUS IS BASED ON THE VARIATION IN CAPACITY OF A CELL ACCORDING TO THE MOISTURE CONTENT OF SAND WITH WHICH IT IS FILLED. THIS VARIATION RESULTS IN A CHANGE IN THE FREQUENCY OF AN OSCILLATOR. THE OSCILLATOR VARIATION IS PERIODICALLY COMPARED TO THE FREQUENCY OF A FIXED CONDENSOR. THE SIGNAL IS AMPLIFIED GIVING INDICATIONS ON THE MOISTURE CONTENT, THIS TRIGGERS OFF A DEVICE WHICH REGULATES THE ADDITION OF WATER IN A CONCRETE MIXER. THE MATERIAL INSIDE THE CELL IS COMPACTED FOR ONE MINUTE BEFORE THE MEASUREMENTS ARE TAKEN BY MEANS OF AN ELECTROMAGNETIC VIBRATOR. ROTARY VIBRATION DOES NOT GIVE AS SATISFACTORY RESULTS. ACCURACY OF PLUS OR MINUS 10 PERCENT CAN BE OBTAINED FOR MOISTURE CONTENTS LOWER THAN 2 PERCENT, ACCURACY OF PLUS OR MINUS 5 PERCENT FOR MOISTURE CONTENTS BETWEEN 2 AND 10 PERCENT. /LCPC/RRL/
