METHOD OF CALCULATING THE WEIGHT OF REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLES NEEDED FOR DETERMINING THE GRADING COMPOSITION OF A GRAVEL DEPOSIT /IN RUSSIAN/
A REVIEW IS PRESENTED OF MAJOR WORKS PUBLISHED IN THE USSR CONCERNING THE SELECTION OF SAMPLING METHODS FOR POWDERY MATERIALS. NEW FORMULAE ARE GIVEN TOGETHER WITH TABLES SHOWING THE RECOMMENDED WEIGHT OF GRAVEL OR SAND SAMPLES TO BE TAKEN FROM A DEPOSIT OR QUARRY ACCORDING TO THE MAXIMUM SIZE OF A GIVEN MATERIAL, AND ACCORDING TO THE QUANTITY OF THE VARIOUS GRADING FRACTIONS. A GRAPH SHOWS THE ERRORS MADE WHILE DETERMINING THE CONTENTS OF THE VARIOUS FRACTIONS. /LCPC/RRL/
