STAINLESS STEEL FOR CHEMICAL TANKERS

L'ACCIAIO INOSSIDABILE NELLE NAVI CISTERNA PER PRODOTTI CHIMICI

The paper reviews practical considerations for the transport of bulk liquids with chemical tankers and the advantages offered by stainless steels for the tanks. Conditions and requirements of the single main cargoes are examined in connection with the grades of stainless steel used or suggested in the different cases. Design and fabrication aspects for cargo tanks and related accessories are covered. Operating factors, particularly procedure for cleaning stainless steel tanks between cargoes are indicated.
