SYNTHETIC COARSE AGGREGATE CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM-FINAL REPORT
THE RECOMMENDED SYNTHETIC COARSE AGGREGATE CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS ARE GIVEN FOR PRESENTLY ENVISIONED USES WITHIN THE HIGHWAY SYSTEM. THE CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM DIVIDES THE MATERIAL INTO TWO CLASSES-BLOATED AND NON-BLOATED-AND EACH CLASS INTO SEVERAL GROUPS OF DESCENDING PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS. A FUNCTIONAL GROUPING OF COARSE SYNTHETIC AGGREGATES IS ALSO PRESENTED, IN WHICH THE RECOMMENDED PERMISSIBLE COARSE AGGREGATE GROUP IS SHOWN FOR EACH HIGHWAY FUNCTION, FROM SURFACE TREATMENTS TO BASE MATERIALS. /AUTHOR/
