INFLUENCE OF THE GALVANIZATION METHOD ON THE RESISTANCE OF ZINC LININGS /IN RUSSIAN/

RESULTS OF TESTS SHOW THAT ZINC LININGS TREATED UNDER OPTIMUM CONDITIONS (20 MINUTES AT 500 DEGREES C) HAVE A STABILITY 2.5 TIMES HIGHER THAN THAT OF UNTREATED LININGS. THE TESTS LASTED 3000 HOURS. ZINC LININGS WHICH HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO THERMAL TREATMENT AND WHICH ARE COMPOSED OF A HOMOGENEOUS IRON-ZINC ALLOY SHOW A VERY HIGH RESISTANCE TO CORROSION WHEN IMMERSED IN WARM RUNNING WATER FROM THE RIVER DNIEPR. IF THE UPPER LAYER OF THE LINING CONSISTS OF PURE ZINC, THE RATE OF CORROSION IS PRACTICALLY THE SAME REGARDLESS OF THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. /LCPC/RRL/
