LOW FUEL RATE CLAIMED FOR BRITISH-DESIGNED RE-HEAT BOILER
A fuel rate which, it is estimated, is only about 2% greater than that achieved by the best of the super large-bore diesel engines is claimed for the single main boiler installed in the 190,000 ton dw tanker Esso Norway, built at the Kiel shipyard of Howaldtswerke Deutsche Werft. This radiant reheat boiler delivers steam to a 30,000 shp steam turbine set of General Electrics MST 14 design; principal operating data are shown.
