SUBGRADE MOISTURE VARIATIONS' PRELIMINARY PLANNING
THE SCOPE OF RESEARCH OPERATIONS IS STATED AND THE TYPE AND MAGNITUDE OF EXPECTED PROBLEMS IN MEASUREMENT OF SUBGRADE MOISTURE VARIATIONS WITH NUCLEAR DEPTH EQUIPMENT ARE INDICATED. CURRENT UTILIZATION OF NUCLEAR EQUIPMENT BY VARIOUS AGENCIES IS REVIEWED AND PROCEDURES FOR CALIBRATION OF NUCLEAR DEPTH EQUIPMENT ARE SUGGESTED. THE PROBLEMS OF ACCESS TUBE INSTALLATION ARE DISCUSSED AND WORK IN THIS AREA BY BOTH OTHER AGENCIES AND THE RESEARCH PROJECT IS SUMMARIZED. OPERATIONAL THEORY IS GIVEN FOR NUCLEAR DEPTH EQUIPMENT AND A PRELIMINARY PLAN FOR RESEARCH PROJECT OPERATIONS IS PRESENTED. /AUTHOR/
