WEAR-RESISTANT COATING OF CONCRETE SURFACE
THE ADHESIVITY OF POLYESTER RESIN PREPARATIONS FOR COATING CONCRETE SURFACES IS IMPROVED BY A BASE COATING OF AN UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACID, PREFERABLY AN ALKENE CARBOXYLIC ACID, E.G. ACRYLIC ACID. CONCRETE LANDING STRIPS WERE SMOOTHED, CLEANED, BASE-COATED WITH A MIXTURE OF ACRYLIC ACID 1, STYRENE 1, AND HETRON 31 /POLYESTER PREPARED FROM 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7-HEXACHLOROBICYCLO-/2.2.1/ HEPT-5-ENE-2 , 3-DICARBOXYLIC ACID, AN ALIPHATIC GLYCOL, AND STYRENE, SP. GR. 1.28, BROOKFIELD VISCOSITY 1700 CP., SPI GELLING TIME 5-6 MIN./, COATED /6.35 MM THICK/ WITH HETRON 31 POLYESTER RESIN REINFORCED WITH 10% BY WEIGHT GLASS FIBERS AND ACTIVATED, COVERED WITH FINE SAND AND HARDENED IN AIR. THE COATED LAYERS RETAINED GOOD ADHESIVITY TO THE CONCRETE SUBSTRATES AFTER 6 MONTHS USE.
