STUDY ON DISPOSAL OF BENTONITE SLURRY /IN JAPANESE/

THE MOST ECONOMICAL METHOD TO DISPOSE OF DETERIORATED BENTONITE SLURRY PRODUCED IN THE SLURRY-TRENCH METHOD HAS BEEN STUDIED. IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO SEPARATE THE SLURRY INTO SOLID AND LIQUID PARTS BY ANY SIMPLE METHOD, DISCHARGE THE LIQUID INTO SEWERAGE OR RIVERS, AND DUMP THE SOLID WASTE BY TRUCKS, DISPOSAL WILL BE EFFICIENT AND ECONOMICAL. TO SOLVE THE SEPARATION PROBLEM WE HAVE PERFORMED A SERIES OF EXPERIMENTS TO INCREASE THE SEPARABILITY OF THE SLURRY BY USING A HIGH POLYMER AGGREGATION AGENT AND A FILTRATION ACCELERATOR DURING THE SEPARATION PROCESS. IT WAS FOUND THAT (1) BY USING AN APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF AGGREGATION AGENT AND A FILTRATION ACCELERATOR, SEPARATION CAN BE EASILY ACHIEVED; AND (2) A SEPARATING DEVICE ILLUSTRATED IN THE TEXT SEEMS TO BE MOST APPROPRIATE FOR THIS PURPOSE. /AUTHOR/
