THE AUTHOR STATES THAT FLY-ASH IS SUITABLE FOR THE STABILIZATION OF SATURATED SUBSOIL BECAUSE OF ITS ABILITY TO ABSORB EXCESS WATER; FLY-ASH TOGETHER WITH SMELTING AGGREGATE IS SUITABLE FOR THE CORES OF EMBANKMENTS; AND MIXTURES OF FLY-ASH, AGGREGATE AND IMPACT-REDUCED AGGREGATE, POSSIBLY WITH ADMIXTURES AND GRADED NATURAL ROCK, ARE SUITABLE FOR ROADBASES, PROVIDED THAT PREPARATION AND MIXING PROCEDURES ARE CORRECTLY FOLLOWED. MENTION IS MADE OF TESTS BEING CARRIED OUT ON THE USE OF THESE AGGREGATES IN WEARING COURSES AND BASECOURSES. /TRRL/
