THE DEGRADATION OF ROADING AGGREGATE
AGGREGATE DEGRADATION IS RECOGNIZED IN THE PAPER AS A CONTRIBUTOR TO THE NORMAL CHANGES WHICH OCCUR IN THE STRUCTURE OF A FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT DURING SERVICE, AND WHICH DETERMINE THE FATIGUE LIFE OF THE STRUCTURE. THE CURRENT SITUATION CONCERNING DEGRADATION OVERSEAS IS REVIEWED. THE SITUATION IN NEW ZEALAND IS SUMMARISED IN THE LIGHT OF SPECIAL LOCAL INVESTIGATIONS AND THE THE RELATED OVERSEAS KNOWLEDGE. THE MAJOR FACTORS APPLYING IN AGGREGATE DEGRADATION IN NEW ZEALAND ARE OUTLINED. INTERIM CONTROL MEASURES ARE SUGGESTED, AND PROPOSALS ARE MADE FOR FUTURE RESEARCH TO REFINE THESE INTERIM MEASURES. /TRRL/
