BLAST-FURNACE SLAG FOR ROADBASES--PART I
THIS STUDY DEALS WITH VARIOUS TYPES OF BLAST-FURNACE SLAGS: THEIR PROPERTIES, APPLICATIONS, AND USE IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION. AN EXPERIMENTAL CARRIAGEWAY OF TYPICAL PROFILE WAS BUILT IN WHICH CRUSHED SLAG WAS USED FOR THE 13 CM SUB-BASE, CRUSHED SLAG CONTAINING GRANULATED SLAG AND LIME WAS UTILIZED FOR THE 10-CM-THICK ROADBASE, AND ASPHALTIC CONCRETE WAS USED FOR THE 7.5 CM-THICK SURFACING. THE SHOULDERS WERE STABILIZED WITH SLAG. THE ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF THE USE OF SLAG ARE DISCUSSED. /LTE-LCPC-RRL/
