WEATHERING OF PAINT FILMS AND DEVELOPMENT OF ACCELERATED TESTS - INFLUENCE OF THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY, WAVELENGTH AND INTENSITY OF RADIATION ON THE CHALKING OF LATEX PAINTS PIGMENTED WITH ANATASE AND RUTILE TITANIUM DIOXIDE, ZINC OXIDE AND MIXTURES OF THESE PIGMENTS

THIS PAPER DESCRIBES WORK CARRIED OUT AT THE DIVISION OF BUILDING RESEARCH TO STUDY THE WEATHERING OF PAINTS AND TO DEVELOP ACCELERATED TESTING METHODS. THE INFLUENCE OF THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY, WAVELENGTH AND INTENSITY OF RADIATION ON THE CHALKING OF LATEX PAINTS PIGMENTED WITH ANATASE AND RUTILE TITANIUM DIOXIDE, ZINC OXIDE AND MIXTURES OF THESE PGIMENTS HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED. FROM THESE STUDIES CONCLUSIONS ARE DRAWN AS TO THE LIKELY REACTION MECHANISM, AND THE DESIRABLE FEATURES OF A WEATHER-OMETER ARE INDICATED. /AUTHOR/
