INTENSITY REQUIREMENTS FOR DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS
THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THIS INVESTIGATION WAS TO EXAMINE THE IDEA THAT RUNNING LIGHTS ON MOTOR VEHCILES COULD SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASE THE VISIBILITY OF THE VEHICLES UNDER DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS AND TO DETERMINE INTENSITY REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCH LIGHTS. BACKGROUND LUMINANCE MEASUREMENTS. VEHICLE LUMINENCE MEASUREMENTS, AND SUBJECTIVE TESTS WITH OBSERVERS WERE MADE. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT RUNNING LIGHTS WOULD IMPROVE THE VISIBILITY OF VEHICLES UNDER CERTAIN DAYTIME CONDITIONS. /HSL/
