THE "CASE" AGAINST DRIVER EDUCATION
IN THIS REVIEW OF "AN EVALUATION OF DRIVER EDUCATION" BY FREDERICK MCGUIRE AND RONALD KERSH, THE AUTHOR ARGUES NEITHER FOR NOR AGAINST THE PROPOSITION THAT DRIVER EDUCATION IN HIGH SCHOOLS IS EFFECTIVE IN REDUCING SUBSEQUENT ACCIDENT AND/OR VIOLATION RATES. A DETAILED STUDY IS MADE INSTEAD OF (1) THE REPORT BY MCGUIRE AND KERSH, (2) THE ORIGINAL SOURCES CITED, AND (3) RELEVANT LITERATURE NOT CITED. THE AUTHOR FINDS EVIDENCE THAT A PROPERLY DESIGNED STUDY WOULD FIND POSITIVE RESULTS IN FAVOR OF DRIVER EDUCATION. /HSL/
