TRAFFIC CONTROL INSTALLATION IN THE COEN-TUNNEL
IN COLLABORATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF WAYS AND COMMUNICATIONS, TELEFUNKEN DEVELOPED A RADAR-DETECTION INSTALLATION WHICH SATISFIES THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: SLOWLY MOVING VEHICLES AND STATIONARY VEHICLES OR PARTS OF THEM ARE DETECTED AND LOCATED. BY MEANS OF A CROSS-ARROW SYSTEM TRAFFIC CAN BE DIRECTED BY THE CONTROL ROOM. IN THE COEN-TUNNEL THIS SYSTEM WAS PUT INTO PRACTICE TWO YEARS AGO. IN THIS ARTICLE A PRECISE DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM IS GIVEN. A POSITIVE EFFECT ON TRAFFIC SAFETY WAS OBSERVED. /RRL/SWOV/
