SODIUM LIGHTING CUTS ACCIDENTS.
A LOW PRESSURE SODIUM LIGHTING SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED ALONG A 1 1/2 MILE SECTION OF THE SPADINA EXPRESSWAY TORONTO. METRO OFFICIALS CURRENTLY REVIEWING THE SYSTEM AFTER A YEAR-LONG TEST HAVE FOUND THAT THE NIGHT ACCIDENTS HAVE DROPPED BY APPROXIMATELY 35% ON THE EXPRESSWAY SINCE THE NEW LIGHTS WERE INSTALLED. A RESEARCH STUDY WAS ALSO MADE WHICH QUIZZED 300 DRIVERS ON THEIR REACTIONS - AND FOUND THEM 4 TO 1 IN FAVOUR OF THE DISTINCTIVE YELLOW LIGHTS. /RATAOC/
