VACUUM LIFTER SPEEDS UP WALL ERECTION
ERECTION TIME WAS CUT AT LEAST 50% FOR BASEMENT WALLS BY CASTING BASEMENT WALLS ON THE GROUND IN FINAL LOCATIONS AND THEN TILTING THEM INTO PLACE. G. A. HACKER, AN ENGINEER FOR GENERAL CONTRACTOR H. A. LOTT, INC., OF HOUSTON, DESIGNED THE LIFTING SYSTEM THAT CONSISTED OF FOUR INDEPENDENT VACUUM PADS ARTICULATED TO A STANDARD TILT-UP LIFTING BEAM SYSTEM. PRECAST PANELS ARE POST TENSIONED THEREBY REDUCING OVERALL WEIGHT WHICH IN TURN FACILITATES TILTING OPERATIONS.
