DECCA INTRODUCES SOLID-STATE 10CM RADAR
The equipment incorporates a new, compact solid-state 30 kw transceiver of modular design; a new 12 ft aerial designed to operate in wind speeds up to 100 knots and a choice of five proven Decca Transar displays. The latter are the 16 in. True or Relative Motion, both with interscan; 12 in. True or Relative Motion; 12 in. Anti-Collision. Ships equipped with a dual installation of 10 cm and 3 cm radars which are interswitchable will therefore benefit by the operational advantages of identical displays. The transceiver is housed in a bulkhead-mounted case measuring only 19x22x11 1/2 in. The power unit is integral and the transceiver has a power consumption of only 150 w. Greatly increased reliability, efficiency and stability have been achieved by the use of a solid-state modulator and local oscillator, extensive use of microcircuits and tuning by manual acquisition and automatic follow to ensure optimum tuning at all times.
