SURFACE TREATMENT' THE PERFORMANCE OF BITUMINOUS DISTRIBUTORS
DUE IN PART TO THE POOR QUALTIY OF SURFACE TREATMENTS BEING OBTAINED IN ONTARIO, FIELD TESTING OF BITUMINOUS DISTRIBUTORS WAS STARTED IN 1962. AS A RESULT OF THE FIELD TESTING, A CALIBRATION STATION WAS CONSTRUCTED IN 1963 WHICH IS CAPABLE OF TESTING ALL OPERATIONS OF A DISTRIBUTOR. EXPERIENCE DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF OPERATION OF THE CALIBRATION STATION IS DESCRIBED, AND RESULTS OF TESTING ARE GIVEN. IT IS CONCLUDED THAT MOST DISTRIBUTORS IN SOUTHERN ONTARIO DO NOT WORK TO THE BEST OF THEIR CAPABILITIES BECAUSE OF INADEQUATE MAINTENANCE AND POOR APPRECIATION OF THE PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION./CGRA/A/
