ASPHALT-KETTLE ATTACHMENT SAVES TIME
A DEVICE TO INJECT A STREAM OF ASPHALT INTO THE JOINT THAT FORMS BETWEEN A CONCRETE PAVEMENT AND ASPHALT-SURFACED SHOULDERS IS BRIEFLY DESCRIBED. IT CONSISTS OF A MOBILE ASPHALT KETTLE, WITH AN ATTACHED TRACTOR SEAT, ONTO WHICH HAS BEEN ADDED A FLEXIBLE RUBBER HOSE IWTH A VALVE AND A METAL CONTROL ARM. THE OPERATOR SITS ON THE TRACTOR SEAT BY THE ASPHALT KETTLE AND, WHILE THE UNIT IS TOWED SLOWLY BY A TRUCK ALONG THE SHOULDER, DIRECTS THE ASPHALT INTO THE JOINT. /RRL/
