RUBBER RAILROAD CROSSING SHOW PROMISE
AN OHIO TOWN HAS INSTALLED RUBBER CROSSINGS TO AVOID THE BUMPINESS THAT USUALLY OCCURS AFTER ORDINARY PAVEMENTS HAVE DEFORMED. A SIMILAR INSTALLATION IN CONNECTICUT IS STILL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AFTER 15 YEARS USE. THE COST OF RUBBER DRESSINGS FROM THE GOODYEAR TIRE AND RUBBER CO. IS ABOUT $100 PER TRACK FOOT, OR $ 5000 FOR A SINGLE TRACK CROSSING.
