A NEW LABOR REPORTING AND COST EVALUATION SYSTEM FOR HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE IN ILLINOIS
THE BUREAU OF MAINTENANCE IN ILLINOIS INITIATED A STUDY TO ESTABLISH A NEW SYSTEM OF REPORTING AND EVALUATION. THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE IS THE ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIABLE MAINTENANCE COST AND THE ACCOMPLISHMENT DATA. A DETAILED ROADWAY INVENTORY WAS MADE FOR EACH MAINTENANCE SECTION AND SUB-SECTION TO SHOW QUANTITIES OF ALL SIGNIFICANT ITEMS WHICH MAKE UP THE MAINTENANCE WORK LOAD: LANE MILES OF PAVEMENT, ACRES OF MOWING, LENGTH OF GUARDRAIL, QUANTITIES OF DRAINAGE STRUCTURES, ETC. THE CONTROL DATA CORPORATION SET UP THE COMPUTER PROGRAMMING AND DESIGNED REPORTING FORMS THE FOLLOWING DETAILS OF THE NEW MAINTENANCE LABOR REPORTING AND EVALUATION SYSTEM ARE PRESENTED: INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING DAILY TIME CARD, INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FILL OUT THE TIME CARD, MAINTENANCE TIME CARD CHECK LIST, AND DESCRIPTION OF MAINTENANCE WORK FUNCTIONS.
