DEVELOPMENT OF A STREET RESURFACING PROGRAM
RESURFACING PROGRAMS ARE DISCUSSED IN THE FOLLOWING STEPS: (1) INVENTORY, (2) EVALUATION AND PRIORITY, (3) ACCOMPLISHMENT, AND (4) CONSTANT UPDATING. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE IS THE SECRET FOR RE-EVALUATION AND PROGRAM UPDATING. A SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED WHICH REVEALED THAT APPROXIMATELY 70% OF THE JURISDICTIONS CANVASSED HAD NO SYSTEMATIC OR SCHEDULED PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS. FORTY-TWO PERCENT INDICATED RESURFACING WAS PERFORMED ON AN AS NEEDED BASIS.
