USING AN OVERSIZED AIR JET VACUUM CLEANER, DEVELOPED FOR THE AIR FORCE TO USE CLEANING RUNWAYS, THE CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY DEPT. IS CLEANING ITS HIGHWAYS ON A WEEKLY BASIS. THE VACUUM CLEANER CAN TRAVEL AT SPEEDS OF 4-50 MPH, WHEN NOT CLEANING. IT CAN COVER ABOUT 500 MILES OF MEDIANS, IN A WEEK, PICKING UP ABOUT 98 PERCENT OF THE LITTER, EVERYTHING FROM FINE CEMENT TO BEER CANS AND TEN PENNY NAILS.
