LABORATORY INVESTIGATION ON THE USE OF BLAST FURNACE SLAG AS CONCRETE AGGREGATE
AN INVESTIGATION OF THE PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF AIR-COOLED BLAST-FURNACE SLAG OBTAINED FROM DIFFERENT PUBLIC SECTOR STEEL PLANTS AND OF CONCRETES USING SUCH SLAG AS COARSE AGGREGATE IS REPORTED. A COMPARISON OF RESULTS OF BLAST-FURNACE SLAG CONCRETES WITH CONCRETES CONTAINING CONVENTIONAL GOOD QUALITY COARSE AGGREGATES SUCH AS DELHI QUARTZITE HAS BEEN MADE. THE INVESTIGATION SHOWS THAT THE HARDER AND DENSER VARIETY OF AIR-COOLED BLAST-FURNACE SLAGS IS SUITABLE AS CONCRETE AGGREGATE. /RRL/
