SHAPE AND SIZE DISTRIBUTION OF ELECTROHYDRAULICALLY CRUSHED AGGREGATE

A THEORETICAL EXPLANATION IS PRESENTED OF WHY AN ELECTROHYDRAULIC CRUSHER WOULD BE EXPECTED TO PRODUCE MORE CUBICAL PARTICLES WITH FEWER FINES THAN CONVENTIONAL CRUSHERS. THE METHOD AND RESULTS OF AN EXPERIMENT AT THE ROYAL SCHOOL OF MINES, DEPARTMENT OF MINING AND MINERAL TECHNOLOGY ARE PRESENTED; THE PERFORMANCE OF A NEW CONTINUOUS ELECTROHYDRAULIC CRUSHER WAS COMPARED WITH THAT OF CONVENTIONAL CRUSHERS, USING VARIOUS TYPES OF ROCK LIABLE TO BE FLAKY ON CRUSHING. THE ELECTROHYDRAULIC CRUSHER PRODUCED CLEAN, DUST-FREE AGGREGATE OF EXCEPTIONALLY CUBIC SHAPE. /RRL/
