STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF UNCONSOLIDATED AGGREGATES
A THEORY DESCRIBING THE ARRANGEMENT OF UNCONSOLIDATED GRANULAR AGGREGATES HAS BEEN PROPOSED AS A BASIS FOR PREDICTING THE PROPERTIES OF SUCH AGGREGATES. IT IS POSSIBLE TO COMPUTE THE POROSITY, PERMEABILITY, AND CAPILLARY PRESSURE CURVE OF A RANDOM MIXTURE OF SPHERICAL GRAINS HAVING ANY SIZE DISTRIBUTION, GIVEN THE SAME PROPERTIES FOR UNIFORM SIZE AGGREGATES AND FOR BINARY MIXTURES AT MAXIMUM DENSITY. THE THEORETICAL PREDICTIONS HAVE BEEN VERIFIED EXPERIMENTALLY.
