THE UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS OF WELDING TECHNOLOGY
THE QUALITY DETERMINANT FACTORS IN WELDING TECHNOLOGY, WHICH IS BECOMING AN INDEPENDENT MECHANICAL-METALLURGICAL DISCIPLINE ARE DISCUSSED. INSTEAD OF THE CONVENTIONAL WELDABILITY CONCEPT, THE USE OF A WELDABILITY SURVEY MODEL (WSM) SYSTEM IS PROPOSED AND ILLUSTRATED. THESE SYSTEMS ARE BASED ON INTERNAL METALLURGICAL BONDS BETWEEN THE INDIVIDUAL PHENOMENA OR ON TYPES OF DEFECTS AND/OR MATERIAL DESTRUCTION CAUSED BY SUCH PHENOMENA. ANY PHENOMENON WITHIN A WSM-SYSTEM IS EITHER STRESS-FORCED OR STRESS-INDUCED. /AUTHOR/
