GUARDING A CATHODIC PROTECTION SYSTEM FROM OUTSIDE INTERFERENCE
THE SAN FRANCISCO-OAKLAND TRANSBAY TUBE, THE LONGEST UNDERWATER TRANSIT TUBE IN THE WORLD, EMPLOYS AN IMPRESSED CURRENT CATHODIC PROTECTION SYSTEM. SEVERAL FOREIGN STRUCTURES NEARBY COULD RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE CURRENT PICKUP AND DISCHARGE CAUSING ELECTROLYSIS DAMAGE. A SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE WHAT STEPS WOULD BE REQUIRED TO OFFSET THIS SITUATION. /AUTHOR/
