THE STRENGTHS OF CEMENTS REINFORCED WITH GLASS FIBRES
COMPOSITES MADE OF CEMENT AND COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE GLASS FIBRES HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED TO FIND SUITABLE FABRICATION METHODS AND ESTABLISH THEIR PROPERTIES. THE INFLUENCE OF TYPE OF MATRIX, AGE AND GLASS CONTENT UPON THE IMPACT, BENDING AND TENSILE STRENGTHS OF COMPOSITES MADE BY A SPRAY- SUCTION TECHNIQUE WERE STUDIED. IT IS FORESEEN THAT, AS SUPPLIES OF ALKALI RESISTANT FIBER BECOME AVAILABLE, THE RESULTING COMPOSITES WILL HAVE PRONOUNCED ADVANTAGES OVER EXISTING SHEET MATERIALS IN RESPECT OF IMPACT AND BENDING STRENGTHS, AND RESISTANCE TO CRACKING. /AUTHOR/
