EFFECTS OF POLYMERIC FILM PROPERTIES ON THE CORROSION OF METAL
RESULTS ARE PRESENTED OF AN AIR FORCE PROGRAM TO INVESTIGATE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELECTED PROPERTIES OF POLYMERIC FILMS AND THE CORROSION PHENOMENA WHICH OCCUR AT THE FILM-SUBSTRATE INTERFACE. ACRYLIC AND POLYMIDE FILMS WERE APPLIED TO IRON, STEEL, ALUMINUM, AND TITANIUM SUBSTRATES AND INVESTIGATED FOR IONIC PERMEABILITY BY CAPACITANCE TECHNIQUES. IN ADDITION, THEORETICAL BOND STRENGTHS WERE COMPARED WITH EXPERIMENTALLY DETERMINED VALUES, AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PRIMER COATS ON METALS WAS DEMONSTRATED. /AUTHOR/
