THE USE OF ADHESIVES AND RESINS IN CONSTRUCTION. BEARING FORM CONCRETING /IN FRENCH/

THE AUTHOR STUDIES THE EFFECT PRODUCED BY THE ADDITION OF RESIN EMULSIONS TO MORTAR AND CEMENT CONCRETE, AND DISCUSSES THE ADVANTAGES OF THIS METHOD FOR COATINGS, WATER PROOFING COURSES AND RESUMPTION OF CONCRETING. POLYESTER AND EPOXY RESIN HAVE BEEN USED AS BINDERS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF RESIN CONCRETE WITHOUT CEMENT. EPOXY RESIN GIVES THE BEST PERFORMANCE AND OFFERS A HIGH RESISTANCE TO HUMIDITY. IN COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS, STRENGTH DECREASES AS THE TEMPERATURE INCREASES, CREEP BECOMES MARKED AND CONTINUES INDEFINITELY ABOVE 50C. CONCRETE PREPARED WITH LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATES WITH A RESIN BINDER HAS A VERY LOW HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT AND GOOD ACCOUSTIC ABSORPTION. ADHESION TESTS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT WITH EPOXY RESIN GLUE, AND THE INFLUENCE OF THE TEMPERATURE INVESTIGATED. GLUING WAS USED FOR REINFORCING COMPLETED STRUCTURES EXTERNALLY. IN BEARING FORM CONCRETING, STEEL SHEETING IS USED AS FORMWORK AND THEN AS REINFORCEMENT: CONCRETE IS POURED IN THE METAL FORMWORK, COATED BEFOREHAND WITH A GLUE WHICH HARDENS IN THE PRESENCE OF WATER AND DOES NOT REACT ON THE CEMENT. APPLICATIONS OF THIS METHOD ARE MENTIONED. /LCPC/A/RRL/
