A STUDY BY POLARIZATION TECHNIQUES OF THE CORROSION RATES OF ALIMINUM AND STEEL UNDERGROUND FOR SIXTEEN MONTHS
ONE ALUMINUM AND ONE STEEL SPECIMEN WERE EXPOSED UNDERGROUND FOR 16 MONTHS IN ORDER TO MAKE A RUNNING SURVEY OF THEIR CORROSION RATES AS INFLUENCED BY WEATHER AND TIME. CATHODIC AND ANODIC DATA WERE OBTAINED PERIODICALLY AS A BASIS FOR CALCULATING RATES OF CORROSION. AUTOMATIC POLARIZING AND RECORDING EQUIPMENT, HOUSED INDOORS, WAS USED FOR MAKING THE MEASUREMENTS. THE METHOD IS ADAPTABLE FOR FIELD USE IN MAKING CORROSION RATE OR SOIL CORROSIVITY STUDIES WHERE COMMERCIAL POWER SOURCES ARE NOT AVAILABLE. /AUTHOR/
