EPOXY RESIN - A NEW FACTOR IN HIGHWAY AND CIVIL ENGINEERING
THE EMERGENCE OF EPOXY RESIN AS A NEW MATERIAL IN HIGHWAY AND CIVIL ENGINEERING IS DESCRIBED AND THE VARIOUS PROPERTIES OF THE COMPONENTS ARE EXAMINED, WITH PARTICULAR RELATIONSHIP TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE INDUSTRY. SOME OF THE MORE WIDELY ACCEPTED USES OF EPOXY RESIN COMPOUNDS ARE COVERED, SUCH AS MORTARS, ADHESIVES, ROAD SURFACINGS AND A NUMBER OF SPECIAL APPLICATIONS WHICH HAVE ENHANCED THE REPUTATION OF THESE VERSATILE MATERIALS AS THE MEANS OF REPAIR WHEN CONVENTIONAL TECHNIQUES HAVE PROVED IMPOSSIBLE. SOME SUGGESTIONS OF COST ARE GIVEN AS ARE THE CONSIDERATIONS WHICH MAKE EPOXY RESINS MORE ECONOMICAL THAN OTHER MATERIALS IN MANY CASES. NOVEL USES OF EPOXY RESIN CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR AND ROAD SAFETY ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. /AUTHOR/
