RADIAL AND TANGENTIAL COEFFICIENTS OF SUB-GRADE REACTION FOR SHIELD DRIVEN TUNNELS

ZUR FRAGE DER RADIALEN UND TANGENTIALEN BETTUNG SCHILDVORGETRIEBENER TUNNEL

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN MADE INTO THE RELATION BETWEEN THE RADIAL AND TANGENTIAL COEFFICIENTS OF SUB-GRADE REACTION AND THE MODULUS OF ELASTICITY OF SOIL. A CLOSE AGREEMENT WITH THE VARIOUS THEORIES WAS REACHED, THAT THE COEFFICIENT OF SUB-GRADE REACTION COULD BE DETERMINED AS A QUOTIENT OF THE DIFFERENCE BEFORE AND AFTER LOADING AND THE RESULTING DEFORMATION. THE STRESSES ACCORDING TO THEORY 1 AND THEORY 2 ORDER ARE OBTAINED BY MEANS OF NEW EQUATIONS (EXCEEDING THE FRICTIONAL FORCES BETWEEN TUNNEL AND SOIL). COMPARATIVE CALCULATIONS BASED ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE MOTORWAY ELBE TUNNEL SHOW THAT, WHERE THE NEW COEFFICIENTS OF SUB-GRADE REACTION ARE USED WITH THE SIMULTANEOUS ASSUMPTION OF BACK SLIDING SOIL, UNREALISTICALLY LARGE STRESSES ARE OBTAINED. FOR THIS REASON IN FUTURE TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION, MEASUREMENTS SHOULD BE PLANNED FROM THE BEGINNING.
