CONTINUATION OF MEASUREMENTS ON THE KIRCHHELLEN-DORSTEN EXPERIMENTAL ROAD

MEASUREMENTS AND OBSERVATIONS WERE CARRIED OUT ON 10 EXPERIMENTAL SECTIONS OF THE ROAD WHICH WAS BUILT IN THE SECOND HALF OF 1972. RESULTS OF THE STUDIES MADE BETWEEN 1972 AND 1975 WERE EVALUATED AND SUBMITTED AS PROPOSALS FOR SUPPLEMENTS OR CHANGES TO EXISTING RECOMMENDATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS. OF PARTICULAR INTEREST FOR PRACTICAL APPLICATION AND FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE PAVEMENT TYPES USED ON THE EXPERIMENTAL ROAD WAS THE "SELF-STABILIZING CAPACITY" OF THE MATERIALS AND MIXTURES USED IN THE EXPERIMENTAL ROAD, DETERMINED BETWEEN 1972 AND 1975. FOR THE PROPOSED CONSIDERATION OF THE ESPECIALLY GOOD CONSTRUCTION METHODS USED IT SEEMS SENSIBLE TO EXTEND THE PERIOD OF OBSERVATION OF THE EXPERIMENTAL ROAD BY ONE AND A HALF YEARS.
