THE FORMATION OF MODELS AND PROCESSING OF MEASURED VALUES FOR TRAFFIC FLOWS ON MAJOR ROADS

IN ORDER TO INFLUENCE TRAFFIC ON MAJOR ROADS WITH A VIEW TO INCREASING THE PERFORMANCE AND SECURE THE AVAILABILITY OF THE NECESSARY SPACE A SERIES OF CONTROLLED TECHNICAL EXERCISES HAVE TAKEN PLACE. IN THIS CONNECTION TWO MATHEMATICAL MODELS HAVE BEEN PRODUCED, WHICH ARE INTENDED TO DESCRIBE THE DYNAMIC TRAFFIC MOVEMENT FROM THE MACROSCOPIC VIEWPOINT. CONTRARY TO OTHER INVESTIGATIONS, WHICH REFER TO LINEAR OBSERVATION METHODS, THE INSTITUTE OF SURVEY AND CONTROL TECHNIQUES IN MUNICH HAVE USED NON-LINEAR RELATIONS, FOR EXAMPLE THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRAFFIC JAMS, IN THE DYNAMIC EQUATIONS. FOR ROADS WITH A RELATIVELY HIGH PROPORTION OF HEAVY GOODS VEHICLES A TWO COMPONENT MODEL HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WHICH MODELS CARS AND HEAVY VEHICLES SEPARATELY AND THEREFORE ALLOWS A MORE PRECISE REPRESENTATION OF THE TRAFFIC. WITH REGARD TO THE PROCESSING OF MEASURED VALUES IT IS DEMONSTRATED THAT THE KALMAN-FILTERUNG METHOD MAY BE INTRODUCED WITH SUCCESS IN ORDER TO ASCERTAIN ESTIMATED VALUES OF THOSE TRAFFIC VALUES NOT DIRECTLY SURVEYED.
