SYSTEMATIC THEORETICAL DETERMINATION OF FREIGHT TRANSPORT FOR THE PURPOSES OF EXPLICITLY CONSIDERING IT IN TRAFFIC PLANNING PROCESSES

THE BASIC AIM OF THE STUDY IS TO INTRODUCE FREIGHT TRANSPORT EXPLICITLY INTO THE GENERAL ALGORITHM OF TRAFFIC PLANNING FOR A TOWN AND ITS SURROUNDINGS. FOR THIS PURPOSE ITS ORIGIN ITS FLOW AND ITS AFFECTS HAVE TO BE REPRESENTED BY MODELS WHICH, ON THE ONE HAND, HAVE TO BE AUTONOMOUS, AND ON THE OTHER HAND, HAVE TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH ALREADY EXISTING AND CONVENTIONAL MODELS USED IN TRAFFIC PLANNING, AND TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THESE TO FORM A TOTAL MODEL. BY MEANS OF AVAILABLE DATA THESE STOCHASTIC RELATIONS WHICH OCCUR IN THE MODELS HAVE TO BE CALIBRATED AS FAR AS POSSIBLE. IF THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE TO A SUFFICIENTLY LARGE EXTENT, AN ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE TO SHOW HOW DATA CAN BE COLLECTED WHICH WOULD HELP REMEDY THIS DEFECT. THE PROJECT IS INTENDED TO INTRODUCE URGENTLY NEEDED IMPROVED IDEAS IN THE FIELD OF TRAFFIC MODELLING WHICH COULD BE USED IN THE PRACTICAL PLANNING OF FREIGHT TRANSPORT.
