VIBRATION GENERATOR TESTS ON USNS HAYES (T-AGOR-16)
As part of a research program to study the vibratory characteristics of catamaran structures, vibration generator tests were conducted on the USNS HAYES in December 1972, mostly while the ship was at anchor in deep water. There were three easily excited hull modes: one hull pitching against the other at about 4.4 Hz, vertical bending of both hulls together at about 5.2 Hz, and athwartships bending of both hulls together at about 6.3 Hz.
