REPLICA TECHNIQUES FOR THE STUDY OF ROADSTONES BY SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY
AN ACCOUNT IS GIVEN OF A POSITIVE REPLICA TECHNIQUE WHICH HAS BEEN DEVELOPED FOR STUDYING THE POLISHING OF ROAD SURFACING AGGREGATES BY SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY. THE TECHNIQUE ALLOWS THE CONTINUOUS NONDESTRUCTIVE OBSERVATION OF ROADSTONES IN SITU IN THE ROAD SURFACE AT MAGNIFICATIONS UP TO 5000. THE TECHNIQUE IS CURRENTLY BEING USED IN THE LABORATORY'S RESEARCH INTO THE POLISHING MECHANISM OF ROADSTONES AND COULD ALSO BE OF VALUE IN MANY OTHER FIELDS OF RESEARCH. /AUTHOR/
