SAFETY CONCEPTS ON FOUNDATION ENGINEERING IN RELATION TO SAFETY THEORY IN MASSIVE CONSTRUCTION

THE STATISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS ON WHICH THE NEW SAFETY THEORIES ARE BASED SHOULD BE EXAMINED FOR THEIR APPLICABILITY TO THE SAFETY "CONCEPTS OF EXCAVATION". THE FOLLOWING MUST BE TESTED: (A) THE DEGREE OF VARIATION TO WHICH THE SOIL CHARACTERISTIC VALUES - WHICH ARE DECISIVE IN BUILDING EXCAVATION ARE SUBJECTED; (B) WHICH VARIATIONS RESPOND TO THE EXTERNAL FORCES INVOLVED IN THE DETECTION, AND (C) THE EFFECT THESE VARIATIONS HAVE ON TESTING FOR SAFETY. IN MONITORING THIS WORK AN EXTENSIVE STUDY OF THE LITERATURE MUST BE MADE. IN ADDITION, STATISTICAL EVALUATION OF EXISTING ARCHIVE MATERIAL MUST BE UNDERTAKEN.
