THEORETICAL STUDY OF THE STRESSING OF STANDARD ROAD PAVEMENTS

THEORETISCHE UNTERSUCHUNGEN UEBER DIE BEANSPRUCHUNG VON STANDARDBEFESTIGUNGEN

THEORETICAL STATIC RIGIDITY CALCULATIONS WERE CARRIED OUT TO DETERMINE WHAT THICKNESSES ARE NECESSARY FOR ROADBASE NOT BONDED ON THE UNDERSIDE, IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE DEFORMATION VALUES LAID DOWN IN THE ZTVE-STB. RESULTS ARE ALREADY AVAILABLE FOR COURSES OF SANDY GRAVEL AND MINERAL MIXES. THE USE OF MINERAL MIXES ENABLES CONSIDERABLY HIGHER VALUES OF DEFORMATION TO BE ACHIEVED THAN THOSE REQUIRED BY THE ZTVE. IN SUCH CASES, THE THICKNESS OF THE BITUMINOUS ROADBASE COULD BE REDUCED. GENERALISED CALCULATIONS ARE THEREFORE NECESSARY TO DETERMINE TO WHAT EXTENT THE THICKNESSES OF BITUMINOUS ROADBASES CAN BE REDUCED AS A FUNCTION OF THE DEFORMATION VALUES OF THE UNBONDED COURSES ASSUMING A SIMILAR PERFORMANCE TO THAT OF THE STANDARD CONSTRUCTION. THE CASE WHERE A FIRST UNBONDED ROADBASE IN THE FORM OF AN ANTIFROST COURSE IS DISPENSED WITH (FULL-DEPTH CONSTRUCTION) WILL ALSO BE STUDIED.
