LA AUTOPISTA BURGOS-CANTABRICO

THE PRINCIPAL CHARACTERISTICS OF A TOLL MOTORWAY PROJECT ARE DESCRIBED. THESE INCLUDE THE RADII OF CURVATURE, MAXIMUM SLOPES, SPECIFIC SPEEDS, TYPICAL CROSS SECTIONS AND FEEDER ROADS FROM OTHER HIGHWAYS. AS FAR AS THE MOTORWAY ITSELF IS CONCERNED, THE MAIN INTEREST LIES IN THE PAVEMENT AND THE LARGE-SCALE EARTHWORKS. FOR THE PAVEMENT, THE "FULL-DEPTH" METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION WAS USED, MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO REDUCE THE TOTAL THICKNESS OF THE PAVEMENT AND TO FACILITATE STAGE CONSTRUCTION. EMBANKMENTS AND CUTTINGS REACHED A TOTAL DEPTH OF 70 M. THE TOLL SYSTEM OF OPERATION EMPLOYED IS OF THE FIXED TYPE, WHICH LIMITS THE WAITING TIME FOR THE USER.
