STUDY OF THE COMPACTION OF BITUMINOUS SURFACINGS BY MEANS OF PNEUMATIC TYRED ROLLERS WITH VARIABLE PRESSURE
ESTUDIO SOBRE LA COMPACTACION DE PAVIMENTOS ASFALTICOS CON RODILLOS NEUMATICOS DE PRESION VARIABLE
THE AIM OF THIS WORK IS TO STRESS THE NECESSITY OF OBTAINING SURFACINGS COMPACTED AT 100% OF THE LABORATORY DENSITY; TO INDICATE THE PRINCIPAL SOURCES OF RESISTANCE TO COMPACTION, EMPHASIZING THE LACK OF TIME DURING CONSTRUCTION FOR CARRYING OUT COMPACTION, PARTICULARLY AT PERIODS OF LOW TEMPERATURE; TO DEMONSTRATE HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO OBTAIN 100% DENSITY WITH ROLLERS WITH STEEL WHEELS AND FIXED-PRESSURE TYRES AND THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO USE PNEUMATIC TYRED ROLLERS WITH VARIABLE PRESSURE. ALSO STUDIED IS THE INFLUENCE OF THE VISCOSITY OF THE ASPHALT ON THE COMPACTION.
