RESULTS OF AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF RESONANCE PHENOMENA IN THE GROUND/SEISMOGRAPH OSCILLATING SYSTEM

THE ARTICLE GIVES THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OF A STUDY CONCERNING THE RESONANCE PROPERTIES OF THE GROUND/SEISMOGRAPH OSCILLATING SYSTEM, IN TERMS OF THE FOLLOWING PARAMETERS: SOIL DENSITY AND THE RATE OF PROPAGATION OF LONGITUDINAL WAVES WITHIN THE SOIL; THE WEIGHT AND AREA OF THE BASE OF THE SEISMOGRAPH; AND THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT WAYS OF PLACING THE SEISMOGRAPH. THE EFFECT OF RESONANCE ON THE RECORDING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SEISMOGRAPH AND ON SEPARATION METHODS, IS DESCRIBED. FOR DIFFERENT GROUND CONDITIONS, METHODS OF PLACING THE SEISMOGRAPH ARE DESCRIBED, IN WHICH THE RESONANCE IS GREATLY REDUCED OR DISAPPEARS ALTOGETHER.
