THE EFFECT OF SHRINKAGE AND CREEP IN PARTIALLY PRESTRESSED CONCRETE IS DETERMINED ON THE BASIS OF THE COMPRESSION INDUCED BY PRESTREESSING STEEL AND REINFORCEMENT. THE CALCULATION OF THE RESULTING TOTAL LOSS OF PRESTRESS IS THEN USED, WITH THE HELP OF A NUMERICAL EXAMPLE FROM A COMPLETED STRUCTURE, TO DETERMINE THE OPTIMUM EFFICIENCY RANGE OF PRESTRESS AND THE CHOICE OF A RATIONAL SOLUTION. /TRRL/A/
