TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF HUMAN BEHAVIOUR

TECHNISCHE ASPEKTE DES MENSCHLICHEN VERHALTENS

THE FREEDOM OF INDIVIDUAL TRANSPORT USING TRAFFIC FACILITIES REQUIRES AN ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE OF HUMAN BEHAVIOURAL PATTERNS. RESULTS OF CURRENT RESEARCH SHOW THAT ASSUMPTIONS FREQUENTLY MADE IN TECHNICAL SCIENCE ARE NO LONGER APPLICABLE IN ALL AREAS. ABOVE ALL THERE IS A CONSIDERABLE DEFICIENCY OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE INFLUENCE ON HUMAN BEHAVIOUR OF TECHNICAL FACILITIES. IN PARTICULAR THOSE AREAS OF THE LEGISLATION AND SUPERVISION INTENDED FOR CONTROLLING THE SITUATION STILL APPEAR TO BE EXTREMELY UNSATISFACTORY. USING EXAMPLES, IT IS SHOWN THAT TECHNICAL GUIDELINES COULD POTENTIALLY BE THE CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS, AS COULD UNSATISFACTORY OR INADEQUATE LEGAL STIPULATIONS. A MEANS OF CONSIDERING THIS PROBLEM BASED ON NATURAL SCIENCE TAKING ACCOUNT OF HUMAN BEHAVIOUR APPEARS TO BE POSITIVE, IN WHICH AN INTER-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH IS NECESSARY. THOSE REGULATIONS ARE ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHICH DO NOT SUIT NATURAL - OFTEN UNKNOWN - BEHAVIOUR PATTERNS AND WHICH STILL PARTLY EXIST IN THE LEGISLATION, IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF TRANSPORT FACILITIES AND MODES.
