COMPOSITE CONSTRUCTION - TESTS ON SMALL-SCALE SHEAR CONNECTORS
VARIOUS WAYS IN WHICH A CONCRETE SLAB OR A COMPOSITE T-BEAM MAY BE CONNECTED TO A STEEL JOIST ARE DESCRIBED, ALONG WITH A CORRELATED SET OF TESTS ON PUSH-OUT SPECIMENS COVERING A RANGE OF MECHANICAL SHEAR CONNECTORS. THE BEHAVIOR OF THESE CONNECTORS IS COMPARED ON A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT BASES. FINALLY, AN ACCOUNT IS GIVEN OF TESTS ON THREE BEAMS, EACH INCORPORATING ONE OF THE MORE PROMISING TYPES OF SHEAR CONNECTOR. THESE TESTS SUGGEST THAT THE WELDED STUD CONNECTOR HAS CERTAIN ADVANTAGES OVER THE OTHERS. /AUTHOR/
